I'm looking for a cheap mic that's gonna be decent. Cheap = $150 or less; Decent = good enough for amateur hiphop/rap/R&B productions made, literally, in my closet.

I'm using an MXL 990 now with an M-Audio Moble Pre USB. It was cheap and maybe the best $50 I've spent on anything. I'm looking to get a new mic so my roomie can play guitar and sing at the same time. The MXL works, but I kinda wanna try something new. Any suggestions?

For my money, the Audio-Technica AT2020 can't be beat. It's $99, and if you buy it packaged with the AT2021 pencil condenser mic, it's $149. I have the mxl990, and for the price, yes, it is quite good, But the AT2020 will help you create more professional sounding recordings. While we have to keep in mind we are talking about very low priced mics, and I 've found nowhere does "You Get What You Pay For" seem to apply than with microphones, I would HIGHLY reccomend the AT2020. I've been recording for 15 years, and cannot find a better $100 mic. (In my humble opinion) peace........Sal

Never heard the AT2020, but I own several Oktava MC012's and they work for great on just about anything. They're around $100-$150 a piece, depending where you get one.
