Hey guys, I haven't really been into the cheaper side of recording in a while. I own a full recording rig but right now, it's all packed up. I'm building a house so I need something that I can do demos on and also do some practicing with videos. I'm using a laptop with XP but it also needs to work with a desktop using Vista 64. I'd also like for it to be compatible with Windows 7 64 bit.

I'd prefer USB just for flexibility purposes. I'd like for it to have a headphone output as well. Just an instrument in is fine but if it has one mic input, that might be cool too. Not necessary, though. I'd like to keep at about $100 to $120. I've been thinking of getting the Line 6 UX1 but I have Guitar Rig and don't really need the modeling stuff that comes with it.

Any suggestions? I need something reliable. I don't want to spend my time trouble shooting. Essentially, at a bare minimum, I need something to plug my guitar into my computer. That's pretty much it. Nothing too fancy.

Thanks. Wasn't really seeking a tutorial on the basics of interfaces. Like I said, I have the big stuff already. I'm using Lynx Aurora's. Anyway, I just wanted a brief rundown of what USB stuff people were using these days that didn't break the bank and allowed me to practice easily with videos on computer.

Well Im not gonna say much but just pick up a 1st generation MAUDIO fast track. They go cheap on ebay for someting like $50. Ive had the same one for like 6-7 yrs and its still pushing even on stage.

i have two line6 interfaces...love em...I only use the mic preamps in the software but they were worth the $$ alone..

I also have an old m audio quattro that works fine as well...

I find it that more and more old 1st generation products from maudio recieved the best reviews.

yeah the only problems come with needing drivers for operating systems other than XP :(

apart from that the sound quality in my old box is crystal...

You wanna sell one of those Line 6 units?

sorry they're only the single input DIs, I use them on my laptops as the quattro uses a wall wart...btw I got podfarm platinum & gearbox with all the add on packs free with them...might be worth looking into if thats still the deal??
