I was wondering if anyone could recommend a couple of Graphic Eq's? I need to get a mono 31 band for about $100 and a stereo 31 band for $200. They will be used for live use mostly and no "critical" listeners.

Thanks

I'm not sure of prices off the top of my head but the cheap eq's I'd consider for live use would be:

dbx - 3231, 2231, 1231(?), nice sounding EQ's, fairly durable, long throw sliders, each has different features. Not sure of prices, sorry.

Rane - Lots of different models, durable stuff, sounds pretty good, long and short throw models.

Samson - Not too bad, I'll use it if I have to.

ART - Don't particularly like them.

DON'T get the Alesis MEQ 230, it may be ok for 'set and forget' fixed installations but it is NOT designed to be road worthy.

You won't get a decent graphic for that much. You can find them used, but beware - I've bought several (Teac/R.S.) and had them go bad on me. The best used one I ever found was an old Harmon Kardon. It's huge and weighs about a thousand pounds, but it's very musical sounding.

I've got the basic Art stereo 15-band - nothin fancy - but ok for the money. A volume and a couple leds for each channel, normal and clip. So far it has been dependable - knock on wood !
