cheap cheap keyboard

hi
i need a keyboard but im short of dough. i have seen some in pawn shops at very cheap prices quite a few at less than a £100. im wondering what the diff is between these and those othe keyboards that cost thousands.
basically i want to be able to put songs together on the keyboard, make melodies etc and also to be able to use it with my pc. what is it im looking for ? do they have names , i dont want to buy something that i cannot use samples with/exchange sounds etc.
id be grateful if somebody could give me the lowdown on this. cheerio

Your question is a bit large. There are keyboards out there from 100 US dollars to, you know, big pounds, many pounds.

So, what is your talent/knowledge level? How long of a learning curve do you want? What do you really need to achieve?

Do you want a snythesizer or a sampler? Or, do you only need a Stage Piano?

So many questions.

Go to the BIG stores at home and get LIVE demos. This will help you find what you want.

someone replied.

lets start witha story. yesterday i froze my ass off to go to get a keyboard. the train didnt come i stood at the stop , the weather was poor poor poor and i wasnt wearing many clothes when i reached my destination i found the keyboard was not midi. i thought all the yamaha psr ranges were midi? stupid me.

so from a hundred im down to 60 . what do i want to use it for?i want to make an album. i don mind spending a whole year on it bu i want it to sound like a quality piece of music which will sell and attract attention. you will be thinking im dreaming and i know i am but thats what i want.

for this i am using fruity loops and i need to input stuff into the piano roll via a keyboeard as doing it the point and klik way is stupid and i am not stupid. i will also be using cubase vst and any other methods i find along the way. my eyboard will have to fit in with all these things , altho itdoesnt have to have great sound i want it to be able to record my playing and transfer it to fruity with velocity pitch etc, basically all that stuff.

im looking for a model of keyboard that ill be able to buy for less than a hundred pound used, and one that will have a lot of functionality.

i know i need midi are thier different qualities of midi? i dont knw this

iveheard of mudular subtracting and adding waves, stuff about mod wheels , but im guessing all these things will be ut of my price range so i want a keyboard with a few sounds (but if i get get great things for that price second hand tell me) , i want to trigger sounds with into my eyboard and will help me make my album. is that too much to ask, is it? is it really too much to ask, but is it? huh? cheerio
 
i dont mind large learning curves. the most important thing is that i dont find im restricted by things. ive been listening to music , ive been learning slowly about production and i dont mind having a tough time learning things as long as i can do what i want easily at the end. i spent 3 weeks fiddling with fruity and cubase and know it quite well but i got frustrated not being able to play things automatically when i felt lie it , instead i have to boot up a computer and set the whole thing up and stare at a screen , which io hate. i think music should be played and constructed without all tht hasle , i want to create melodies , when i have a song constructed on keyboard i want to tae it on to fruity and mess with the way it sounds and mix it with other things. im not sure if ive answered you questions well enough. if i can be arrogant and say what specifically do you want to know about what i do so i can help you to help me. help me help you to help me. help me help you to help me helpme help you to help me. cheerio and thankyou for replying. im getting desperate now and i will have a keyboard within 2 days. i probably will have it by the time you read this. i have wasted half an hour here for nothing , but atleast ive done something constructive while i have my cds ripping into mp3. thanx for repling anyhow it was aprreciated.

Don't let anyone convince you that Casio keyboards suck, because this is a damned nice instrument for the money.
The "Grand Piano" on it sounds so real, that it's almost impossible to tell that it's not the real thing on a recording.
Check the specs, it's all there.
I have a WK-1300, which was recently discontinued for the model above. There's just a few upgrades on the new one.
