Hi this is my first post so please be gentle. I'm trying to set up my own home studio so I can record acoustically, guitar vocals piano. I don't have a vast amount to spend so was looking at these, (1) PS400 micropower (2)Behringer XENYX 505 mixer (3)Behringer HPM1000 headphones (4)Behringer c-1 condenser microphone. I only have a laptop that's not super fast but is alright. Would this be an ok setup or would I be as well just getting the more expensive Podcastudio with the condeser mic. As I said before just need a bit of guidance. Any help would be great, thanks guys!

For a similar price to the ps400 and the Xenyx you can get a simple interface, not sure about the headphones, The C-1 is a nice mic.

Hi Lengle, and welcome to the forums.

How do you plan on getting your audio into the computer? I would ditch the idea of getting that mixer (assuming you meant the Xenyx 502, not 505? I couldn't find the 505 in search results), and I could be wrong, but it looks like you wouldn't need that PS400 phantom power supply with it, anyway, as the Xenyx has its own phantom (reading from description on Behringer's site).

Headphones and mic, okay.

But now you're going to need an interface (a piece of hardware that has a mic preamp and converter -- analog to digital -- that will get your audio into your computer).

Start here (Audio Interfaces | Sweetwater.com)
and look through some of the higher-rated audio interfaces (USB and Firewire). USB will probably tend to be cheaper.

Hope this helps you out a bit.

A little unsure if the XENYX 502 has phantom power as official site says it doesbut reviews say it doesn't. I'm wondering whether it may be best buying the Podcastudio. I haven't done recording for a number of years and a lot has changed so will be a little rusty. Looks simple enough though
