changing tempos in Sonar

I have a project set up that used a midi file as a scratch track. I then recorded audio on top as I listened to the midi to sync everything up.

The midi had a few tempo changes in it and a ritard at the end. Everything seems to sync ok, but my question is: how does Sonar deal with the tempo changes as far as the audio is concerned? Does it stretch the waveform or something like that so that it still is lined up with the measure lines? Because one measure of audio in one tempo seems to be the same size as a measure of audio in a different tempo.

When I try and cut and line up the audio, Sonar will shift my cuts over due to the tempo change. Like if i cut at 104:00:00, it will cut at 104:01:12. Any thoughts?

Thanks.

Unless you're into timestretching which is only passable in very small increments you're better off not commiting to audio until you're sure of your tempo changes.
Are you familiar with acidized clips? This might get you closer but has to be done bit by bit and might be a tad archaic.
The wav. files don't line up because they are real time and the midi is synced to tempo which can fluctuate as you choose, real time does not fluctuate with the tempo.
The only machine I know of that can readily handle the task you speak of would probably be the Roland VP9000.
BIG BUCKS

BTW I don't know what a "ritard" is but I've been called a "retard".
GOOD LUCK!
