So my keyboard is hooked upto cakewalk and i record real time drum sounds into a fresh track while listening to the guitar tracks. This works well, although the drum sounds sound like crap. They sound fake. If you go into "reason" you can change a specific drum sound in the ReDrum thing adjusting the tone and pitch ect to make the particular drum file sound awsome. My question is: Can you make a drum sound in reason that sounds great, (For example a kick drum), then somehow import it into cakewalk and assign it to a specific key on the keyboard??? If yes, How?? Set by step. If no, can you do something similar in cakewalk? What about just importing a midi drum sound file into a bank or patch so when you press a key on the keyboard, it sounds liek the one you want. The standard drums suck.
This seems like the easiest way to record drums without actually having drums. Translating the drum beats in my head into a drawing, like in the piano view, just doesn't work, especially when you are writing technical punk rock that is 150 + beats per min with many fills, changes, and rolls.
