Chandler TG2 Mic pre

Thinking about buying 1. Anyone had any experience with them? They look interesting

I've had one for years... they're absolutely brilliant!! On mine there is a "summing mod" [factory] where I can use the pre's as individual mic amps or combine the two signals with a master out.

I will often use this for close and distant mics on guitars or if I use two mics on a snare drum [the TG-2 will sound AMAZING on both sounds... as well as many other sounds... bass, vocals, you name it].

Its funny as Chandler advertises it as the Abbey Road Beatles pre but the TG12345 console was only used for the Abbey Road album, the first solid state console, and Emerick I read did not like it much at least compared to the old tube Redd37. Of course, he did not like the u67 when they first came out, prefered the u47. Must have been tuff

I have one of the very first makes of the TG2 and I could never part with it. I have found that I do not like it as much for kick and snare as I do other things, but I love it on overheads. Other than that it pretty much sounds amazing on just about anything. What I prefer it the most for though is electric and acoustic guitars. The TG2 has a huge sound that always finds its place in a mix. I have wanted for a long time to have the impedence mod done, but I can never seem to find a time where I want to live without my TG2 for long enough to send it in for the modification.

There is a reason why TG2's are hard to find used. Most people keep them. When they do sell them they sell pretty fast and for close to what people paid for them. Since I have one of the earlier ones I got mine before the price increase. I can sell mine today for about what I paid for it. That makes it a good investment
