CEP Buffer settings?

Just looking for a general consensus of how you have your buffer settings set at. I'm interested in whatever anyone sets their buffer settings at in Cool Edit Pro 2.0 (or any version for that matter), and even moreso what you have them set at in your M-Audio control panel if you use the Audiophile! What would you consider a safe setting while getting decent performance, and what would you set them at for optimal performance? My sessions get pretty big, running at around 4 and a half minutes, generally in the 15-25 tracks range.

My machine is a P-111 800MHZ, 7200 RPM operating on 384 megs of RAM.

Is it skipping or dropping out?

If it works fine then leave it. The default settings should work fine and are only there if you have problems.

Yes skipping and dropping out.:)

Make sure that your Backround Mixing bar has filled up enough.

Clicks and drop-out / buffer settings

Hi all - I'm very very green, but learning quickly using CEP. I Love the program but I have a lot of system tweaking to do I guess. I have almost the same system as the person in the original post and I've implemented the suggested TASCAM (site) optimizations, I've reinstalled the soundcard drivers, but I'm still having problems with clicks, drop-out, & stuttering...
I've even physically re-installed the sound card. My last hope is that the buffer settings might help . I'm at the point where I'm beginning to believe that Windows XP is the problem. Any Insights?...

SYSTEM:
Sony Vaio slimtop, Pentium 3, 800 Mhz, 2 20 gig hard drives, M-Audio delta 66 Audio card.

Thanks in advance for any insights!

I've optimized per the syntrillium forum posting but still not getting the performance in Windows 2000 Pro that I was getting in ME. Weird.

If it skips, or clicks and pops during playback, it's because of your latency.
You pushing your CPU too hard.

Just increase the buffer size to fix it.
