Celestion vs Jensen

I recently bought a vintage Alamo amp, and I really loved the sound. My only gripe was that it had a big bulky Celestion G12K-85 16 ohm speaker in there. My amp is wired for an 8 ohm load. The speaker was so large that it was hard to swap tubes in and out. So I sold it and bought a Jensen P12R based on a local amp tech's advise. Lo and behold, I discovered I don't like the sound of speaker break-up. By the way, thus is a 15W amp. So now I am on the speaker prowl again. Did Celestion make an 8 ohm G12K-85 speaker? Or would that even sound the same as the 16 ohm version. I basically want a speaker that sounds like the old one, and if possible I want it less bulky. I also see that there is a G12K-75. I doubt my amp will breakup either of those speakers. Does that speaker sound quite similar? I assume it has a smaller magnet, and it might be the perfect fit for my cabinet.

Also, if anyone wants to buy the P12R or do a speaker trade, I am open to that. The speaker is brand new, with about 2 weeks of breaking it in.

The Jensen model you mentioned is an alnico, and the Celestion was a ceramic. The should sound different.

True. This new speaker has less low end as well. Much more crisp mids though. It would probably cut through the mix quite well for recording. Interestingly, when I borrowed a friend's strat and played through the amp, it sounded freaking great (I play a Tele Deluxe 72 RI).

Alnico is much better for clean, they literally don't want to distort. Jensen makes a Neo that's nice and I think all of $80 new. That might be up your alley.
