I'm curious what the best CD-R's for audio are...Maker, model, etc...

Yo SluiCe Si':]

I've used the BASF CDR's and Maxell -- no problems with my unit, Yam 2816.

I got a pretty cool Ceramic Backed CDR from Yamaha with the unit made by BASF -- they are not yet available from my vendor, although she tried to get a few -- they are pricy -- the others are reasonable.

I'd bet there are a bunch of others that work just as well.

If you're recording from your computer onto data cdr's the Memorex black cd-r's seem to work on all cd players and the most reliable.

Agreed!

Memorex black cd-r's are the very best home cd-r's. They worked in my older car cd deck when NOTHING, I mean NOTHING else worked out side of commercial CD's.

Very good....thanks a lot guys. I was wondering about the Memorex Black actually. Just saw them yesterday. Thanks again.

I'll second the vote on the Memorex black CDR's - haven't found a CD-player they wouldn't play on when others wouldn't work. I usually keep a small supply of them on hand.

I've had good luck with Taiyo Yuden as well. You can get them under the brand name Microboards at Guitar Center.

Imations have been good to me.

Also, I never burn audio cds faster than 12x... when cdr drives ramp their speed up, it causes a degradation in the burn quality/depth, and this causes some "cheaper" and "older" cd players to be unable to read them properly (cheaper lasers need a well burned groove to play properly it seems).
