CD Audio and CDR audio are the same, but CD and CDR MEDIA are different. The materials are different, with a different level of reflectivity. Because of this most early and a few recent DVD units (and many early computer CD-ROM drives for that matter) will not read CDRs. One recent example I know of is a JVC 3 disc DVD/CD player, the XV-M555. Does'nt read music CDRs even if they are exact copies of comercial CDs. However my computer DVD drive at work plays music CDRs just fine. So you just have to check the specific model.
