I own a Korg D8 mixer and would like to mix down to a CD. Does anyone know what the best cd burners/recorders are?
I need a stand alone burner not a drive for the computer.
I've read on the boards that the Tascam CD-RW5000 is a good one, but I don't want to spend that much money. I was hoping to spend no more than $450.
I've read mixed things about the Philips CD recorders.
I was told the Pioneer PD-R555RW is a good one.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks.

I have the Phillips Dual tray (now $459 at Circut City)and have had nothing but fine results.

Spurnkey -

Glad to know that someone else out there has a D-8. I just recently got mine and I love it, and I'm already wanting to invest in a CD burner.

A guy at a music store suggested a TASCAM RW-700 which is around $600, cheaper than the RW-5000. Did you look into the Phillips? I'd be interested in hearing if you found any new insights.

Hey DALtune... does your Phillips support SP/DIF and RCA ins? And because it's a dual tray might it be able to duplicaate CDs and does it take both CD-R and CDRw's?

I have the dual Philips. It has been great for me so far. I mix down to CDRW and after I get it how I want it, I burn it to CDR.

It has both optical input and coax digital inputs/outs.

One downside is that it only uses the "audio" CDRW and CDR's which are slightly more expensive (but prices have really been coming down lately).

Here's a site I found (when I was researching what to buy) that has some pretty good info on the Philips dual deck:

Yo Spurnky:

Suggest you take a look at the Alesis Masterlink box CD burner; it will take input from about any kind of recorder you will ever use and is supposed to be easy to run.

I have not heard any negatives about this box and it sells in the neighborhood of 1500.00. I'm about to get one as soon as I learn how to use this new computer I've just plugged in. Boy, to get my new password and reregister with the Dragon of many scales was a pain in the ear.

I was the Green Hornet in the past; now, I am the Green Lantern. Well, green is the color of money and we all love that stuff.

Check out the Masterlink and see if it fits your needs.
