CB Radio Mics

I want one of these for some vocal recording. i love the sound these give.

How do you record these - is it a case of re-wiring or what?
And were to get one?

You could rewire it, but I think you're giving the microphone the credit for the CB radio itself.

I think you'll find that if you manage to adapt a standard CB mike to a recording console it'll just sound like a crappy old mic.

The easiest way to replicate what you want is to buy yourself a megaphone (even a toy one) and record the bell on that. Speak at a normal volume and tone and you'll get the effect you seek.

Are you talking about the PA type mics which are also used in Highschools to announce events over the PA system? You know, those crappy one's that had the push on switch?
 
yer - as in the ones that are used to give the vox a very distorted sound. I have mixed tracks recored with these mics and loved the sound of the vox, it was actually the backing vox in the verse in this track.
