Functionally obsessed.
Hello hello,

My new duplicator arrived and I'm going to take every measure to make sure I keep it completely clean all of the time. The manufacturer even recommends that it be cleaned after every 30 minutes of use.

I've read recommendations for CaiKleen RBR for cleaning the pinch rollers. What about the capstans and heads?

I've read/heard people say that 90% iso alcohol isn't optimal for cleaning the heads and capstans. What's better, then?

Thanks!!
Jeff

99% iso alcohol is better, make sure it says anhydrous (without water) and/or that there is no water in the ingredients.

Denatured alcohol is promoted as even better by some so consider that also, just be aware of the the constituents. Denatured alcohol is ethyl alcohol (the drinking kind) that has been "denatured" (made unnatural or unsuitable for consumption) by some other agent, even iso alcohol. Just look at the ingredients and don't by cheapy stuff but many swear by the denatured alcohol...that it is cleaner.

I use a video head cleaner that I got from a local electronics shop...not really sure what it is but it smells...like...iso alcohol. :D
