Freakin' sweet
I couldn't help it, I went ahead and invested 211 of my hard-earned dollars on one a these yesterday. Haven't received shipping info yet, but it should be here hopefully by the weekend. I'll be sure to let y'all know how it sounds, perhaps post some comments of my mediocre voice and boomy acoustic guitar :D

Anybody else have one of these yet? I haven't found much info 'round here, and I think they only just started shipping this particular model recently, so its no surprise.

Anyway, just gloating about a small purchase :)

So, it will be arriving at my house next Tuesday!!! I use excess exclamations half out of excitement and half out of aggravation that it won't be here by the weekend, but... we'll just have to wait and see how good it is.

I suffered the weekend but it has come and gone!

And while I am not happy about being back at work, it comes tomorrow. I am excited, to say the last. That is all... for now

Gonna be the most polar thread ever, but I do not like this mic.

Even with the DMP-3 cranked up (I know, the pre makes a difference), it is still just a muted microphone. I am giving it enough gain - in fact, kudos to the DMP-3, because I was able to turn the gain up all the way and there was no noise - just a muted/muffled mic sound :)

Then I thought "Maybe it still isn't getting enough gain". So I cranked the gain on the line-input of the Firepod, and just sang into to while monitoring over headphones. Yet again, stil muffled, but now I could sing from the other side of the room.

All in all, I would expect better ribbons to sound much better than this - but I haven't tried any, unfortunately. Perhaps someone else can weigh in on what sort of sound to expect from, say, the AEA ribbons in the 900-1000 dollar range? :D
