Hi,

Is Carvin a good brand for guitars? I might build one later this year but wanted to know what the community thinks! :) Please post your thoughts and vote!

I have a Carvin V3 half stack. Great amp. I'm going to get a Carvin California CS6 next.

Joe Walsh was an excellent President, and he plugs Carvin all the time! Can't go wrong with that!

still consider it my 'main' guitar, i've got 2 other totally custom electrics, and a vintage ibanez artist, but this thing is choice

i've changed out the bridge pickup (duncan custom custom) and taken all the wiring out, it's a volume wired directly to the pickups

i've updated the original Kahler trem (which still works fine) with a HYBRID kahler design, that allows me to turn it into a hardtail (locks the bridge in place)

so you like it a lot after changing out much of it.

I've got a DC400 custom I've had for a few years now.
Most excellent guitar. Very smooth and great sustain.

In fact, I was just checkin out their Bolt Kits for another bass to add to my arsenal. If you decide to build a kit and ya have any questions, there's a "builders forum" right there at Carvin's site.
I've been readin and checkin there for the past few days. They seem like a pretty good bunch of guys.
:guitar:

you can get an actual custom guitar that you choose a lot of for a very reasonable price. they do impress me.

I do not have any of Carvins guitars, but i have used one of their replacement necks on a project. It was very nice and a super good deal. I would never be opposed to have a carvin product.

yup. :drunk:

That's what my DC400 is. I picked out the pups I wanted, the finish and even got a truss rod cover with my name on it. :D
I feel so special. :p

That's a sweet looking axe man, h

i would never consider stripping out some wiring and changing a pickup as "changing out much of it"

i don't know why you would phrase it that way, honestly, who doesn't change out pickups on half their guitars?

point i was trying to make, was that out of all my guitar collection, and even compared against collectors guitars i've played and everything else off the wall, this guitar holds it's own against all of them.

the kahler changeout sound identical to the kahler bridge i took off it.
identical.

they did not have the 'Hybrid' version of this bridge back in the early 80's, and now they do.
i upgraded, but did not change the tone one bit.

i've done a lot of recording with this guitar and posted here, the sounds i put out are the proof to me.

I was just kidding .... that's all.
I like Carvin. But how your guitar sounds isn't representative of how a Carvin sounds anymore and thus isn't a great example of why someone should buy a Carvin.
But I was just joking and wasn't trying to make some deep point so relax. :)

And I don't agree that most people change out a lotta stuff on their gits. I have 14 of them and have changed p'ups in one and nothing in any of the others. And I'm fully qualified to do absolutely anything to a git including detailed inlay work, refinishing ...... replace necks .... whatever. Meh ...... I just don't bother and I bet the majority also doesn't.

It's true that when I was young 30 years ago I did all kinds of stuff to me gits ..... but for quite a long time I have just accepted how any git sounds and used it as is except for set up.

You looking for a job right now?

;)
