Carvin Bass AC40 or AC50

I'm thinking about ordering a Carvin AC40 or AC50 Acoustic Bass. I've already been reading extensively at the Carvin site and elsewhere, but I'd also like to know if anyone here has had any positive experience with them (or listened to) recordings done with the AC series.

Yeah, I always wondered if you could get pretty close to an upright sound with the right fretless acoustic. So far I haven't found any that I liked. Maybe I'm too picky, but not usually.

Don't know about the sound, but I would imagine it would be extremely well built, FWIW.

I don't dis APL. He knows me much better than that. I was yanking his chain....him being an undercover Carvin sales guy and all...........

I don't read much in the way of good at the Carvin site itself about the AC40 or AC50. Makes me wonder about how much hype there is to their catalog.

Hey 60's...It may speak volumes that a typical Carvin-product-targeted thread usually generates pages and pages of responses. One that does not even provoke a response from the Jim Jones level Carvin fanatic must mean bad things...
