Who cares once your studio burns down. Ever see carpet burn, in a vertical position? Try a piece. Watch the nylon drip...and then imagine it in your studio. Why do you think there are building codes...ie...1hr fire ratings on drywall. The people who create the building codes don't do it for fun.
Small-ish rooms typically benefit the most from lots of 4" traps, a few 6" traps and superchunk-style corner trapping. The right combination of those treatments reduces decay times EVENLY rather than selectively, which results in a room that's more acoustically neutral...which is usually what people mean when they ask for "dead".
