I'll be running in a couple line levels (guitar, keyboard) and a couple mic levels (dynamic). But this will not necessarily be at once. I don't think I'll need more than 2 inputs at a time.
I'll probably run n-track or cool edit on the software side.
I like the looks of the echo cards if they have functioning w2k drivers. I've heard the deltas don't like w2k?
Basically I need a card that will run on w2k and will sound good to my semi-pro ears (self-proclaimed!).

The http://www.lynxone.com/ runs on W2K I think. Ed, AKA sonusman would know since he uses one. Only 2 Channels, but if that's all you need, it might suit your needs fine.

The Delta cards work fine on W2k. But the problem with it for me, is the fact i bought the card before the W2k drivers were out (so they are not on the driver cd). its a pain in the butt to get the drivers, not to mention its alot harder to get the drivers to load in W2k (what drivers isnt in W2k) but that was a few months ago i tried it, it could have definately improved since then. I would like to mention i really like the Delta 44.

The Lynx One card, and the CardDeluxe where the only two soundcards I considered at all for a NT machine.
Both have very well developed NT drivers, and both have very good A/D/A converters. No crap here, just great sound.
I personally would favor the Lynx card, unless 96KHz sampling rate is a MUST HAVE for you. It has more sync options, and the driver loads in about 20 secs on Win 2K and works extremely well. I guarantee you will have absolutely NO problems loading the Lynx One driver on ANY computer. Their tech support is first rate too. One of the two owners of the company answers all emails for tech support, and these guys know their business in a way that is mostly unheard of these days with computer technology.
"Buy cheap, buy twice".....The Lynx One card will set you back about $450. No cheap, but not over the top either. Well worth every dime, and something you will not be disappointed with down the road.

The echo website has beta drivers for w2k. Does any one use their cards with success on w2k?
I am also looking at the lynxone, but its hard to find deals on it and impossible to find used (hmm, maybe a reason for that). It is good to know it works on w2k though.
I've seen a couple people selling their gadgetlabs wave card because of nonW2K compatability, can anyone confirm this?

one more card: the aardvark direct pro 24/96 looks kicking, but I've heard there aren't any w2k drivers. Does anyone use it successfully with w2k?

. I know this from experience and there is also a little page on the M-audio site (i think they took it down though). So instead of the Delta's I got a EchoAudio Darla. I'm pretty happy with it bit the win 2000 drivers are a little sparse on options. If anyone else knows of cards that work on dual proc systems PLEASE e-mail me at socialcrisis@hotmail.com

I checked the carddeluxe website and they do not have a specific w2k driver. Although they comment some users have had success using the NT driver in w2k. Sounds risky for my dual processor machine.
The Aardvark website doesn't sound to encouraging for w2k either.

Does anyone know if the Guillemot ISIS works on Win2K? I already put in an order for a new PentiumIII 800, and I want to run Win2K, but a dual boot is tough on my 8 gig application hard drive (partitions for seperate OS's). I own the ISIS, but it isn't "compatible" with my current motherboard, so I waited until the price was right and bought this new machine. I want to know if it's worth running the dual boot, or if it will work on 2000.

drewvta: I wouldn't box yourself in looking for a card that has driver support, specific for W2K, it ain't all it's cracked up to be. It sure as hell is not a quantum leap above Windows 98 as far as stability and performance goes, beta-ware. How important is dual processor support for your application? There are many nice cards out there, regardless whether they have drivers available for W2K, don't limit yourself. Unless dual processing is something your other applications actually take advantage of. Recording a couple channels at a time will be no problem for either OS.

I appreciate the feedback re w2k and the dual procs. The problem is my machine is running great currently with w2k and the dual processors. So I would prefer not to go back to NT 4.0 and the other win systems (98, 95) won't support the dual processors (which I do use for other apps).
But please enlighten me, when a company like m-audio (delta) puts on their website that they have drivers for w2k, but they don't work with dual processors. Does this mean they don't work at all, or they don't work well?
Can I buy any card that works in NT 4.0 and assume some functionability for my set up or will my machine just hang?
Regarding software I was planning on using Cool edit pro or n-tracks. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I didn't think either would be a problem with w2k or dual procs?
