Hi everyone, I'm new here and running out of time to sort out a problem with Cubase. I am running Cubase 5 on my system no problems whatsoever. My friend is using Cubase 3 on his system no problems. He has worked on a song and saved it as a project file and sent it to me on disc to work on. Cubase will open the project and display all the tracks etc. but I cannot get a sound out of it - nothing at all. Whilst looking through the settings it appears it has stored his midi / soundcard settings possibly ? Can anyone help with solving this problem ?

Many thanks guys

I'm trying, can you be more specific ? Cubase does seem to be trying to read his soundcard ins and outs not mine. Surely when exporting a project it shouldn't be specfiic to just one computer. Apologies if I am missing something simple here but I normally use Sonar adn have crossed over to Cubase just to work with this guy - and now I find it is not as easy as I thought !

My guess is his buses aren't setup to work with yours and your going to need to re route everything.

That's a possibility, but if you are setting up your card for the first time on Cubase, then you have to check the Devices Setup. I'm not at home right now so i can't guide you step by step, but, on "Tools" --> "Devices setup" is the Audio manager, so, take a look at it, set the right inputs and outputs. You should be fine with that.

I have a question, your friends sended the hole file right? not only the ".cpr". The file should include the audio files.

Regards.
