can't hear VSTI in VST 5.1 - help me!

I recently updated the drivers for my Delta 1010. When I opened up a previously saved song, I got a "new ASIO drivers" message, asking me if I wanted to use a similar configuration when possible. I chose remap. But now I am unable to hear any VSTi when I play them (I'm using a Radium usb keyboard). If I open a brand new song, everything works great. All the settings seem identical to the older songs, but obviously somethings wrong. I can even see that the midi input is working on the transport bar, but I just can't hear the output. Any suggestions? These older songs are based on a different default song, so I'm thinking it might be some setting there - but I'm hoping there's some way of fixing it now. Thanks.
 
All the other audio tracks (guitars, drums, vocals) are playing back fine through the 1010. The midi output is set for whatever VSTI I'm trying to play. There is no output signal present on the trackbar or on the track mixer for the midi track. How do I reselect audio output for a VSTI?
 
You're right, I didn't think it through.

What happens if you change the VSTi? Still no output?
 
Yeah, still no output. But if I start a new song, all VSTI work fine - so it has to be some setting somewhere, but I can't figure out what.
 
What if you create a new VSTi track in the old song? Can you hear it?

Interesting - If I record a new VSTI track I can hear it on playback. I just can't hear it while I'm actually playing/recording it. Does that give you any ideas? Thanks for making suggestions, by the way.
 
What if you create the new track, then drag the old midi file there?

Actually, there aren't any old midi files in these songs - it's all audio (drums, guitars, vocals). I want to use some VSTi on these songs as well, but the problem is that I can't hear myself play them - although I had been able to previously, and I can in a brand new song.

Possible workaround (this is what I do to prevent latency anyhow): monitor a sound module while you play the track. I use my QS8 as a controller and monitor its audio while I record its midi, it works great. Since your radium doesn't have sounds, you'd have to midi up the radium to a sound module and then monitor the sound module (while you record the USB midi), but it should be doable, as long as you have a module with a sound similar to the VSTi.

I have the same exact issue using a MIDI controller/synth through an AMT8. If I select the MIDI tracks for my hardware synth both MIDI input and output work, but as soon as I change it to a VSTi, I see the MIDI input, but there is no output. I thought I was unique (:-p) and that there was some issue with the AMT. I used to have a Terratec card and was using the MIDI ports on that and had no similar issues. I have this problem on both old and new songs. Haven't been able to figure that one out yet. So my work around is as dafduc suggested, I monitor the hardware synth, then switch to the VSTi. It's a pain, but at least it works. Kinda... :confused:
