Hello Everyone!
I'm a newbie on this site so forgive me if this has been posted before...but like my title says I'm having no luck getting an audio signal into my software. I can play MIDI instruments no problem with my keyboard/controller and record them on an Instrument track but when I set up an audio track- nada. I'm using a Lexicon Omega interface and it registers my mic sound. I've set up my input buses for mono in/out and the track is armed for recording. I can hear sound from my pc through the Omega so I fear I've hit a wall. I never used to have these issues when using an older version of Cubase LE on an XP machine but since upgrading my pc it's been one hurdle after another.

I'm running Windows 7 64 bit Home version on an i5 pc with 16GB RAM

Any help would be hugely appreciated!

Thanks!

Make sure everything in Win 7 is enabled. Control Panel > Device Manager> Sound> Recording (select the right input)

Okay, I turned on everything in the recording section (many things in there mostly relating to the High Definition Audio inputs, Mics etc) still no signal. My Lexicon Omega is listed as the default in in recording and the default out in playback- but I think you are correct, it is some sort of conflict with the onboard audio...but what??? This pc was a build by a friend of mine who does custom work but I don't think he realized that too much onboard stuff could cause problems with recording. Still flummoxed!

Success! But counter-intuitive I suppose...I had gotten rid of the Lexicon Omega ASIO drivers which say they're Win 7 compatible in favor of a freebie called, ASIO DirectX Full Duplex driver which allowed the Omega to show up in Cubase as 'active' as far as ins and outs are concerned- then I disabled every other mic listed in my Win 7 Recording area and BANG! Signal coming in like a tsunami! Problem solved! Perhaps other users of the Lexicon Omega can find this helpful.

Naw man, that should not be the cure. Are you sure you have the right driver installed for the Omega for your OS? In W7, did you select the Omega as your default sound card? Control Panel>Sound>Omega. You absolutely should not be using the DirectX driver for your Omega. It might work, but you have no control over latency. I'm not even sure how that is working actually.......

Hi Jimmys69,
Yes, the Omega is selected as the default in the sound area but the more interesting battle was the driver. I spent hours on the phone with Lexicon tech even allowing them to take control of my pc remotely and we went through multiple installs and deletions and reboots trying to make their driver work. It never did. (on my old XP machine it worked flawlessly first time out of the gate and I had years of trouble free use) So then I had another recording buddy come over and we tried to attack it from other angles, no luck. Finally started trying other ASIO like ASIO4ALL (which also didn't work) then found ASIO DirectX Full Duplex mentioned in connection with the Lexicon Omega and Win 7 on a message board somewhere and that in connection with disabling all other sound made it happen. I am getting a little latency as you mention, but right now just having it work at all is a first step. I'm also reading a lot of reviews on sites that sell the unit where people report problems with Win 7
