Hi,

Well my old puter died, so I re-installed in my laotop. To make a long story short, I whipped a quick song to gether, and tried to bounce it down.

It keeps saying "Insufficient disc space". I have hundreds of gigs, so that doesn't make sense. Stuck and having a cow... mmoooooooooooo:mad:

I am also having no luck trying to register it on the new laptop, getting discouraged with silly problems...

so I tries a one track, just long enough to say 1, 2, 3. And it still wont bounce it down to anything. It just keeps on saying not enough disc space, which I know is untrue...

Curious what you're trying to mixdown to. I'm guessing MP3. Someone earlier today or yesterday was getting the same error message and it was because the trial version of the mp3 encoder had expired.

try mixing down to a wave file if you're not already.

There is a way to not bounce mixes but to record it directly back into DAW. I am not familiar with Cubase much but in Pro Tools you run everything through a aux/bus and output of that aux/bus goes into input of stereo audio track..After it records, you export the file skipping the bounce part

Yes, create a new stereo track and do not assign an output bus. Route the master stereo bus to the input of the stereo track and hit record.

NOTE. You will not be able to do this if the output of the stereo track is assigned to the same master bus so that is why you have to unassign it to nothing.

Cheers :)

Yes, I also posted the other thread, but when I found that it wouldnlt bounce down to a WAVE either, I felt I needed to make a new thread to clarify my problem, I'm sorry if that's not the correct procedure in here to follow..

I'm headed out to the lake this morning to go fishing for the first time in a month due to my first (and hopefully last) bout with GOUT. OWWW!

But anyways, (Mo Facta) thank you for the suggestion for my fix, and I will be working on that early afternoon. Again all, thanks so much for your help in my early workings with Cubase! Much appreciated!:listeningmusic:

Ah, I thought it was coincidental that TWO people had the same rare error like that. Sorry, I can't offer other suggestions. Cubase can be a pain to get started with, but once you have the technical side figured out, you can work on the creative side.

Good luck with the fish!!

Hi,
This isn't sinking in with me. I created a new stereo track with no output bus. I can't route the master stereo out to the new stereo track, it doesn't give me that option.??:( I am trying "stereo in" ? is that right?

When you then say "Hit record"....., Hit record what? Did you mean hit "export"?, or did you mean arm the new stereo track and hit record on the transport?

Sorry for the questions, but I just don't understand......:(:(:(

I didn't have this problem on my old installation on my other computer......

I think there's a small communication problem here. You said "Bounce Down" earlier, but do you really mean "Mixdown"? Bouncing is combining several tracks together to free up space, usually on a tape machine because of limited tracks. Mixdown is when you mix down all the tracks in a song to one stereo track for exporting to a wav file. I assumed you meant Mixdown and Mo probably thought you meant Bounce. I think we are giving you conflicting advice.

Also, some screenshots might help.

And if you get no answers here, there is a Cubase forum. I think it moved recently but it used to be Cubase.Net. I'm sure you can google it.

I see, what I'm trying to do is to get the project into an MP3 format that I can email to the band. My old PT system called it "bouncing", Cubase here seems to call it a "mixdown" for export. So with that, i still don't know what the proper terminolgy is ... But what I am trying to do is use the "Export" function, and transfer all the waves into one little mp3...

Your locators are reversed. The little pointers on the timeline. Swap them around so you don't see red. You should see a blue-ish color.

Also, try to save to a Wav file, you have MP3 selected.

Let us know how that works.

Sweet Chili! That did it!! THANK YOU! for taking the time to help me, I deeply appreciate it!

But, why should I save to a WAV file? then I will still have to convert to a MP3... And not sure how to do that yet...:guitar:

Screen shot is always a good tool for these situations eh... I'm going to eventually have to get an encoder, and save to WAV's anyways I guess...
Seems PT was a bit easier in this one regard, at least to me... in my infancy at this stuff...

Cool, glad it worked out.

But, why should I save to a WAV file? then I will still have to convert to a MP3...

Because, as we discussed in your other thread, the mp3 encoder is a trial period and it expires after 30 days. You can buy the encoder from Cubase for $16, but why when you can find a free one on the internet.

Here's a list of downloads from a reputable download site.

Learning curve is steep, but once you're over it you can concentrate on the music and not the technology.

Sorry Sluggo, been busy with my newborn and studio sessions. Glad Chili got you straightened out. Mmmm chili sounds good. :)

Because you can always make an .mp3 or other compressed format out of a .wav. The .wav file is essentially a master from which you generate any number of delivery formats. If you bounce/mixdown/render straight to .mp3 you can't make a full quality .wav out of it, you'll have to go back to the multitrack project.

HEY! Congrates on the baby!!
No worries, Chili got me hooked up. It's funny, cuz I also went to the My Steinberg cubase forun, and got no help from there, altho I havnt checked this morning, so I won't say anything about them, but rather that you guys rock!

Thanks for the WAV thoughs too guys, it's really helpful when everyone chips in a thought or two to the newbies like me. It really does help and I can't say thanks enough!!!
I still owe Jimmy a free bass fishing guide trip thats on the table forever... Chili, I'll take you too if ya ever want to go...
