Interesting,

reading those stories and the regrets that some of you have about having traded in that first piece of neck [should I also include ass? :D ]

Any more revelations...............

Eddie :)

My first guitar was actually a bass guitar, a Duke. It sucked, and I sold it. Still have the amp though that I bought at the same time. Weird german amp with a built-in analog synth.

First, an uncle died and I got his old acoustic with a neck like a fencepost that only a giant could play, then my parents took pity on me and bought my next one, electric, single pickup and a tiny amp. The first one I actually bought was an Epiphone hollow body electric, looked just like a Gretch Country Gentleman, paid $114 for it and the case but that was in 1971. Played the hell out of it for about 5 years then traded it for a fender amp. I hope someone is still enjoying it as much as I did.

Born and raised in NJ...

Batavus is a Dutch brand, are you from the Netherlands as I cannot imagine that Batavus mopeds were exported to other countries, but then I could be soo wrong eh?

I bought that moped for I think $70.00 at a yard sale in Bridgewater, NJ.. Far from the Netherlands...

Probably around 1964. Wallach's Music City in Lakewood California. I was too young to drive but I'm sure it was my mom who took me. It was a Harmony "F" hole acoustic. Life didn't get any better that year. I think back to that music store and can still see all the early and min 60's equipment and guitars.

No kidding! I used to go there all the time.

First guitar was a birthday gift, a Kay, in 1956.
