Hi Everyone
From the beginning, I have a tascam us1800 for my drums setup, a friend of mine has a eleven rack for is guitar. My question is can use both at the same time recording in to Pro Tools 10. If so will someone half way explain how, so we can record live together. Thanks for all you help. Have a wonderful day;

Probably not.
I can't speak with certainty about the windows side, but US1800 is one of the problematic devices under OSX aggregate device.

Both devices have S/PDIF, so you could run the eleven into the 1800 digitally.
I don't know if the eleven has a standalone mode and it's own mixer software or not.
For it to work you'd need to be able to route the eleven guitar input straight to the digital output, without a DAW.

That digital output would go to the tascam digital input.

Depends!
I would assume the Eleven Rack to work "stand alone" i.e. it will function as an audio to S/PDIF converter even if not connected to a PC? Try that first.

If not, there is the possibility of using two usb devices at the same time but you cannot use ASIO drivers. I have done this with a 2496 and 2 other usb AIs using Samplitude and MME drivers. If you are just tracking a band, latency should not be an issue. The two usb devices are not in this instance locked but for short takes, up to 5 minutes this did not bother us (you can "slide" individual tracks in Sam anyway to sync up).

The other problem might be that the ER uses PC CPU grunt to generate its effects? I would doubt that since it seems aimed at live work but if so it must be plugged in.

How many discrete tracks does the ER produce? If only two go S/PDIF* but if that doesn't work, feed the Tascam line ins from it....Analogue ALWAYS works!
*NB the Tascam must slave to the ER.

Dave.
