Crackling.clipping noise in recordings

Hi.

I am using elevenr ack and have been using it since 2011. has always ran fine.

However, recently when recording, it has been having a clicking.popping nouse on playback.

When I play casually into the eleven rack, it sounds fine.

While tracking, it sounds fine.

However, when i listen back in pro tools, the audio is clipping/crackling.

I tried reaper and same situation, so it isn't "just pro tools"

What is going on? Can anyone help me?

Thanks!

_ Waff.

playing around with the au dio devices can this help or change anythig?

EDIT:

I made another guitar track and listened to it from the audio files folder, this is WITHOUT bouncing the file through pro tools. it is the raw audio file as is.

I listened to tt in VLC media player, and it didn't clip.

The audio seems to only clip, when played back IN PRO TOOLS.

I even checked a session from over a year ago, and it is also clipping, when, a year ago, these tracks were perfectly fine.

FINAL EDIT:

Listening to the track with different pairs of headphones gave differetn results.

My stepdad is coming over conveniently for chirstmas so he is gonna try to help.

He said, on hte phoine, that it has to do withthe OUTPUT of the system.

How do we changee the output of the eleven rack or pro tools?

Check the sampling rate on everthing. The DAW and interface has to be set at the same sampling rate or shit happens.

SOLVED:

It is the OUTPUT on the headphones. The output is too high. My stepdad brought a pair of headphones that has its own volume control on the cable and while listening through it, the tracks were not clipping anymore.

I noticed, earlier, that while listening on a different pari of headphones, that the clipping was not as bad.

So that is what the issue was. The haedphones.

thanks to anyone ho wanted to help me.
