Can the podxt pres be bypassed?

I need to record direct and am using the podxt kidney bean version. I want to use a better outboard pre-amp instead of the pres in the pod. Is there a way to just send the effects/speaker sims out of the pod but have an outboard pre raise the gain?

If so, what would the signal chain be...pre amp to pod or pod to preamp?

(I'm using a Great River nv1 which has a high Z input)

That's just silly. Why would you even want to do that? The Pod is an all-in-one guitar processor that uses color by eq and distortion to simulate cabinets and amp types...would you want to bypass the gain on a guitar cabinet?
