Can Sonar 4 work on Win Vista ?

I am thinking not. :confused:

I gotta say probably not but why not get it from Cakewalk direct...send them an email.

I've been doing some checking, and I've also sent an email (no reply yet). My first reaction to saying "probably not" was because of the 64bit vs 32bit but I'm not 100% on that.

This site seems to show that it may be compatable;

http://www.vtc.com/products/sonar4.htm

and this guy is using it but seems to be having some issues;

http://www.hoofjaw.com/forums/Topic687-59-1.aspx#bm768

and this curious note that shows SONAR LE being compatable;

http://www.roland.com/products/en/WindowsVisata_Notice_SONARle.html

So, I guess I'm on the other side now thinking that it might be. I've seen some other compatability matisis that give me greater concern in the way of drivers and such but that wasn't your question. If I get a reply from Cakewalk sometime soon, I'll forward it on.

Good luck

I'll admit I don't know, but it seems to me

that you should be able to run a 32 bit app on a 64 bit os, as long as there are drivers available.

My Vista version is 32-bit. I asked the guy at the store about the 64-bit and he said if I got that version I would not be able to run the majority of the programs out there.

I am trying to set up a vitual OS in my system so I can run XP.

My MOTU PCI-324 is not supported under Vista either, so I have several issues to work out.

Reason, Sound Forge, and my other Sony software seems to be working fine.

I have been running Sonar 2.2 on Vista. I haven't had a snag yet. I would wait for some updates from the companies that are not supported. :)

Sonar5 / Reason3.0.4 on Vista 32-bit running on a AMD64bit dual core.

only snag: dumb ass tascam hasn't released Vista drivers for the FW-1884 so I'm using my Edirol fa-101.

Got it working

The good news: I finally got the time to mess with it and I got Sonar 4 loaded. I had to go into the Sonar folder instead of using the auto run menu.

The better news: I was able to get my MOTU 324 card to work. I was afraid I would have to get the 424 card for Vista. :D
