Lol. And what generation are you?

I'm from a generation of kids that would shove a tape in each others pockets and no matter how shitty it sounded we would love it. It would take weeks to make them sound that bad. How old do you think I am?

Lol. Gotcha. I'm from that same generation.

I thought you meant "generation" on this site. Like the one-hey-look-at-me-post-and-done-n00b-generation that's plagued the clinic lately.

10-4 Greg. The ones shouting into a room full of other self concerned me-toos hoping someone hears them but not really caring if they did.

I'd be more open to them if they didn't bore me to death. :D

They are fucking boring, and I love drums. I've watched hundreds of drum solos from all the greats, and holy shit, they all suck. There's something wrong with me. I'm not inspired by technical wizardry at all.

I agree...with the exception of Buddy Rich. I can watch any of his solos and just sit there with my jaw hanging. Snare, one tom, one floor and one kik. His kit doesn't levitate off the fucking ground, there's no light show, no double kik going at 398mph to cover up a lack of talent. Just speed and tasty licks. He's the only guy I can watch soloing and not want it to stop.

But he's dead.

I feel that way about Simon Phillips. Scary polyrhythms and four way independence, but musical and accessible - not like listening to Weckyl or something where you don't even know what just happened.
