am i the only person on this site who has installed this program? i had it on a disc and i read about it in the feb 2002 edition of ELECTRONIC MUSICIAN pgs 83-100. so after reading i decided to try it out. the program doesnt really tell how to use midi/set it up.

i need to know HOW to hook this thing up so that im able to play back the notes etc etc etc that jammer creates.

my set up goes like this:

roland VS midi out to to the xp 60 midi in.
roland vs midi IN to UM2 MIDI INTERFACE OUT
xp60 IN to UM2 MIDI INTERFACE IN

i want to be able to create the music in jammer but have it ouput to the xp60. basically i wanna use the xp60 for sounds.

so can anyone please tell me/show me/give examples on how to set this program up and give insight on how to actually use it?

thanks a million.

ps i hope i supplied enough info.

xp60 IN to UM2 MIDI INTERFACE IN

Sounds like that is part of your problem. How could that possibly work? One device's MIDI In to another device's MIDI In means neither device is getting anything.

By the way, what's a UM2 MIDI Interface?

OK, I have a minute or two to look more carefully and think a little.

OK-- computer MIDI Out -> VS MIDI In
VS MIDI Out -> XP-10 MIDI In
XP-10 MIDI Out -> computer MIDI In

Well... how does any MIDI messages from the computer arrive at the XP-10? The MIDI data coming in to the VS does not go out the MIDI Iut port unless you have set it up to echo the messages fromn the In port on to the out port. Or else, use a MIDI Through port if there's one.

That might be the problem...

using that set up i turn the vs to midi THRU when am using the PC and having it chase or something. i leave it to OUT when i have synth slaved to the recorder. im gonna play with it some more.
this sucks big time.
