hey guys my friend has problems with cubase and his gear and it seems that he needs a little help. he is using a Delta 66 and Midisport 2X2.

here are his questions.

1. I can't hear what I'm playing through my kurzweil UNLESS Cubase is recording, how do I get it so that I can hear my kurzweil ALL the time? Even when I'm NOT recording? I have it hooked up through my Delta all right and everything I know it's just something in the setup in Cubase (I'm hoping).

does he need to have something set to MIDI THRU?

2. I have some VST instruments like that Pro-52 . I really want to use that in Cubase, and I load it up in the VST instruments panel, BUT it doesn't respond to the midi on my keyboard (and once again, YES the chords are connected correctly, because MIDI works fine on everything else). SO I'm guessing that's some sort of setting too.

once again will midi thru solve this issue?

3. Another VST instrument question. I can't get it to record the audio of the VST instruments.

doesnt he need to arm the tracks as AUDIO tracks?

heres a quote from the guy
I can control the VST instrument if I open it standalone, BUT when I open it in Cubase as a VST instrument, it will no longer allow me to control it using my keyboard.
i have no clue as to how to answer this question.

heres another one
My midi setup works fine. I can play and record everything MIDI that I play, and when I hit play back in cubase it'll play it back. So that's all good. I have the ins connected to the outs on the midisport, and the outs connected to the ins on the midisport. Same with the audio ins and outs to the delta 66 breaker box. So I konw that's all good. What I meant by playing live is, I'd like to play my keyboard riffs live (not all, obviously that's what the midi setup is for) into cubase, then chop it up and resample it. Now I have the speakers hooked up to the audio outs on the delta 66 breaker box, and the only time I hear the audio of the keyboard when I'm in cubase is when it's recording. Otherwise, I won't hear shit comin from the keyboard (audio going through the delta breaker box). How do I fix it so that I can hear what I'm playing even when I'm not recording? Also, I want to know how I can control the VST instruments via midi, AND how I can get it to record what I play AUDIO wise, not just midi wise with the VST instruments in cubase. I hope this makes sense

my suggestions to him was to recheck what he selected as his MONITOR source(some sound cards have multiple sources), to check and see if his local was turned off,to check and see if ECHO was off.

i know when i use cubase (for midi only) i have to have the roland vs set to MIDI THRU in order to hear the sounds play back. if not it wont play the stuff back at all from cubase(no sound). also if a strike a note the notes are LAYERED (when i press play in cubase when midi thru is not selected).

can someone help this guy because i cant. thanx a lot.
