HI..i have a few question about how analog go into digital. it's very confused for me.
i am now trying to build my own small home-studio.
i am currently using Mbox with ptle6.4
however, i found that mbox is nothing enough for me.
it just have 2 mic input.
then it's impossible to record a drum kit with 12 mics and recording with 12 seperate channels.
so...what i want to ask is .......can any other digital mixers able to work with protools, except digidesign hardware? i mean like the example that i said - recording a 12 mics drum kit with seperate channels, and working with protools.
what should i buy?? does anything transfer analog to digital??
for instance, i have a mbox now...and i plug 10 mics to a digital mixer. can i put something between the mbox and the digital mixer to record...then i can record 10 seperate channels at the same time on protools?
i am totally confused....please help!!!

the mbox only has 2 inputs, correct, which means that it'll only be able to put out 2 channels of audio.

i'm not sure if those inputs are stereo. if they are, you can set it up so you're working with 4 mono inputs and 4 mono outputs but no more.
unfortunately, i suspect the inputs are mono.

but no matter what size deck you use before it, it'll always be mixed down to 2 channels (or 4, if it's stereo, as i explained above).

i suppose you could always look at a multitrack recorder, record your drums to that, then dump each track, one by one, into protools via the mbox.
maybe consider cutting down on 12 mics.

M-audio delta 1010 has ten inputs, and theoretically you could use that withyour current interface, so as long as there are no conflicts, and you can preamp 12 different analog sources separately, then you could run 12 tracks separately into your digital setup.
