A friend is thinking about getting a Digi003 for the studio we share. I was considering getting a Firewire input myself, and I don't really want to use Pro Tools at all. Can Sonar read audio from the Digi003? What about other programs?

It should be fine, but I think you'd get a better bang for your buck buying something else. The 003 only has 4 mic pres. The tactile surface is nice, but you'll have more input flexibility getting one of the 8 pre interfaces from presonus, for less money. Also, not sure how well the control surface would work with sonar.

Just as long as I can use it with Sonar to get up to 8 inputs, it'll be fine; I have other mic pres already. I know it would be better to get something else, but my friend that I'm sharing the studio with just HAS to use Pro Tools, and if he's going to spend the money, why should I bother?

Is there an online resource that can tell me more about using a Digi 003 with other DAWs?

Thanks for the info!

Ha! Well, other people's money is the way to go!

In that case, you guys should be fine with the 003.

As far as any online info about using 003 with different software, not sure, but I'm sure it can be done, as my mbox 2 pro works just fine with logic, reason, garageband, etc. I doubt you'd have to take many extra steps to get it working.
