... as a connection from my PC earphone jack to my smal digital recorder's "Mic" jack???

Here my situation: I came across a tune on the net that I don't know the name, etc... And I'd like to record it clean, NOT from my laptop's audio speakers, worsened by other room noise...

So, being a newbie, I'm wondering if I can just plug one end of a 3.5 male-to-male cable into my laptop's headphone jack, and the other end into my recorder's MIC jack... Basically use it as an extension adapter from an output to an input... Makes sense?

HELP???
Thank you.

simple answer, sure, but it would help if you could tell us more about the "small recorder"

Do you have the copyright holders permission to make such a recording

OK, Sorry for skipping the details:

1. the tune: there is this 1 min haunting Guitar intro (sounds like Clapton) to the movie "One False Move" (Billy Bob Thornton, etc.), I couldn't find anything info about it in the credits... I play a little guitar and wanted to practice it, so no copyrights violations threats... :P.

2. The recorder: is your regular (but very good) Olympus DM-520. I use it for guitar practices... (now upgraded to Zoom Q3 - video helps me to remember what-the-hell-was-that-chord that I played).

The DM-520 has a MIC input (stereo), so I wondered if it is at all possible.

So, the answer is a simple "YES" then? Of course I could try, but until yesterday, when the question hit me, I didn't even know those 3.5 male-2-male chords existed... so I guess I'll order one.

Thanks for your help guys.
