Can I record 24bit from analogue mixer

[Help please!]

I currently own a Yamaha analogue mixer (MG8/2Fx) and at the moment only recording at 16bit rate.
My sound card is an EMU 0404 and says it can record at 24bit rate. So I was wondering with the mixer I have is a 24bit recording possible, I thought of using S/PDIF cables from mixer to sound card but I'm not sure if this will work.

Mmmmmmm......ahhhhhhhhhhh......it's analog...what do you mean "recording at 16 bit rate"...????

Anyway....look at the back of your mixer, you have analog outputs...use them to feed your soundcard inputs and then you can record at whatever bit-rate your soundcard can support.

Thank you I think you've answer my question I admit to being a complete novice LOL. Really what I probably should of said is can I record at any rate with analogue mixer my sound card does support 24bit. Thank m8
