Can I make beats the dumbass way I do on my Casio?

Here's how I did it. On my Casio WK-1630 keyboard as the the output to n-track on my PC. I find the rythym, set the tempo and record it in real time pushing the fill button for fills. That's too easy. I've got Fruity Loops, but it seems to want everything cut and pasted into it. I just want to set the beats and tempo and just push a few buttons so I have my drum track. Is there a software that will do this?

None that I can think of. Fruity Loops (and ACID and Magix MUMA) all work with "chunked" audio patterns. It's not that hard, and you get a much better result. After you've done it a few times, it gets a lot easier.

If you really don't want to go that route, here are a couple of ideas though (if your keyboard has MIDI)...

1) Get a drum machine (that has better sounds than a Casio), MIDI into the drum machine, and record that (using your keyboard for triggering the fills the same way you do now)

2) MIDI into the computer and record MIDI (instead of audio) the same way. This gives you more flexibility, and you could use something like N.I. Battery (or LM-4 or whatever) to generate the drum sounds, which will sound much better.
