ive got a microkorg, and i want to connect it to my computer VIA midi, but i want to use my onboard sounds, is that possible?, if soo can someone demonstrate how its done, as im really struggling, thankyou

I'm not understanding. What do you want to do with the MIDI??? If you want to use the onboard sounds of your keyboard, what do you need the MIDI for???

You cannot use the sounds on board via midi, you would have to take the audio outs and then input that into your computer in a way that suits you. MIDI is only a control language so to speak so it does not carry audio. What do you have as an input for your computer (i.e stock sound card I presume) ?

if your talking about making it in an audio track in your DAW, then you have to record it just like any other instrument

make a midi track, record it as midi, fix anything that needs fixing, then play it back and record the synths audio output as a new audio track

Actually, if the board has local control, he can use the onbopard sounds via midi.

Turn local control OFF.
Attach a MIDI cable from the microkorg MIDI out to your computer MIDI in.
Attach a MIDI cable out from the computer MIDI out the microkirg MIDI in.

Route the input from that channel back (MIDI send channel on your microkorg) from your computer's sequencer or such out to the MIDI recevieve channel on the microkorg.

This way, you can use the board as both a controller and a sound source.

Sequencing for one thing. Much easier to edit a MIDI performance than the resulting audio if you want to change a note or something for example.

fantastic!!! its done! and YES you can use onboard sounds, but nxt question is, if on track1 im using a pad sound from my microkorg, how do i select a different sound on track2? (via midi)

I agree. I used to use MIDI extenseively. But I found that his question wasn't clear on what he wants to do with it. I'm still not really clear. So he used the on boards sonds and it worked. What did that have to do with MIDI?

microKORG_SPECIFICATIONS:

Sound Generation Method: Analog Modeling Synthesis System
Synthesizer Program: Multi Timbral=2 (max, Split/Dual Mode)
• Voices=4 voices

• Sound Source=2 Oscillator + Noise Generator, Multi Mode Filter(-24dB/oct LPF,-12dB/oct LPF/BPF/HPF), EGx2, LFOx2, Virtual Patchx4

You have to set up a split in order to do two tracks of different sounds and those will be duophonic (two voices a piece).

I still recommend just recording the midi track and bouncing it to audio. The 2 part multi thing is way too limited

Fraserhutch, altitude and I shouldn't have to explain 'the midi' to n4eem AND to you.

If you've got nothing constructive to offer there are better ways of increasing your post count.

Scccccccientist gave me ANONOMOUS neg rep for my posts, because he's too much of a coward to sign his shit.
Grow a penis and then come back and try to deal with things like a man...Actually, that's got to be asking to much from a dickless little bitch like you.

And my questions were legit. I thought he was talking about the on board sounds of his KEYBOARD, so I couldn't figure out why he would need MIDI. I used MIDI for years, I don't need to be educated by someone wuth a short fuse who takes out the frustrations of his miserable life on others. What a pathetic loser.

Sorry if it hurts, Rami.

You can come down here to Chicago and we'll see who the dickless loser is.

And, just for the record, it must have been one of your many other fans who didn't like your post. Unsigned negative rep is not in my bag of tricks.

YOU sent me the anonomous rep, you dickless little bitch. Now, you don't even have enough of a backbone to own up to it. I know for a fact you did, you spineless coward. It's very easy to find out who did it.
Fuck, you're pathetic. Almost as pathetic as your tough-talk from behind your computer you little wimp. It obviously hurts you alot more than it hurts me since you were too scared to sign it, Lucy....LOL!!!!!

NEXT.

You're on ignore, you weak little girl. You got something to say to me??? Send me an PM...or don't...I don't care...But I'm not going to ruin this thread any more than you already have you little coward.

People, this scared pathetic little girl sent me anonomous rep and is still too scared to admit it...and that's a FACT...talk about spineless. You parents were obviously bigger pieces of dirt than you...That's how they raised such a pathetic little cowardly pile of garbage....Wimp.

Wonder if she's still denying the anonomous rep thing??? Or totally avoiding the subject now that she got busted???? Hmmmmmm......Must be embarrassing.

OVER AND OUT. My work is done here. hehehehe :D
