ive got a microkorg, and i want to connect it to my computer VIA midi, but i want to use my onboard sounds, is that possible?, if soo can someone demonstrate how its done, as im really struggling, thankyou
petermiller said:You cannot use the sounds on board via midi, you would have to take the audio outs and then input that into your computer in a way that suits you. MIDI is only a control language so to speak so it does not carry audio. What do you have as an input for your computer (i.e stock sound card I presume) ?
Sequencing for one thing. Much easier to edit a MIDI performance than the resulting audio if you want to change a note or something for example.RAMI said:I'm not understanding. What do you want to do with the MIDI??? If you want to use the onboard sounds of your keyboard, what do you need the MIDI for???
I agree. I used to use MIDI extenseively. But I found that his question wasn't clear on what he wants to do with it. I'm still not really clear. So he used the on boards sonds and it worked. What did that have to do with MIDI?noisewreck said:Sequencing for one thing. Much easier to edit a MIDI performance than the resulting audio if you want to change a note or something for example.
fantastic!!! its done! and YES you can use onboard sounds, but nxt question is, if on track1 im using a pad sound from my microkorg, how do i select a different sound on track2? (via midi)
Fraserhutch, altitude and I shouldn't have to explain 'the midi' to n4eem AND to you.RAMI said:What did that have to do with MIDI?
fraserhutch said:Actually, if the board has local control, he can use the onbopard sounds via midi.
Turn local control OFF.
Attach a MIDI cable from the microkorg MIDI out to your computer MIDI in.
Attach a MIDI cable out from the computer MIDI out the microkirg MIDI in.
Route the input from that channel back (MIDI send channel on your microkorg) from your computer's sequencer or such out to the MIDI recevieve channel on the microkorg.
This way, you can use the board as both a controller and a sound source.

YOU sent me the anonomous rep, you dickless little bitch. Now, you don't even have enough of a backbone to own up to it. I know for a fact you did, you spineless coward. It's very easy to find out who did it.ssscientist said:Sorry if it hurts, Rami.
You can come down here to Chicago and we'll see who the dickless loser is.
And, just for the record, it must have been one of your many other fans who didn't like your post. Unsigned negative rep is not in my bag of tricks.
