Yup.
Keyboards have plenty of "juice" to work directly into a line input, unlike a guitar.

Yes you can with the proper adapters! Will it sound good? Who knows, all I know is before I discovered interfaces and recording the way your suggesting here it all sounded very lo-fi.

EXACTLY.

Built-ins are inferior parts and high latency.

BTW: your soundcard IS an interface and an A/D/A converter. Both convert analog to digital and back again.
