Can i connect a powered mixer to a 4 track???

Hi Folks,
This is my first post here in this forum.I am relatively new to this home-recording thing but i've been playing guitar since i was a toddler and want to get a few ideas down on tape.The trouble is this ...i have a tascam porta studio 2 and i want to use some of the effects from my powered mixer (inkel 200 watt)like reverb and eq but i'm not sure how they should be connected.The mixer has a headphone 1/4 " jack but when i plugged this into the line input of the tascam the signal was extremely weak.There are two "tape out" rca plugs on the mixer ...maybe these are what i should be using? ...(with somesort of adaptor to the tascam) ....all help appreciated!!!!

Ya know I'd just bet that if you were to plug that 4track in to that tape out jacks you'd get enough signal to flood that tape deck. Try it you'll like it.

Caution!
Be sure you are sending a line level or (pre-amp) signal to the tape deck....

DO NOT SEND THE MAIN SPEAKER OUTPUTS!.... this will fry your input transistors.

Another note. If you have speakers connected to the powered mixer, you may get feed back, (Also some reproduced sound through the microphone....this may sound like natural room reverb...good or bad?)

If you run the amp/mixer without speakers connected you may damage the output transformer... it will get hot with power and no load (Speaker) to send the voltage to!

You can purchase or make your own dummy load resistors. These are big ceramic white rectangular devices that can handle several watts. An "L" pad (Speaker volume control) could also be used.

Remember you can solder several resistors or "L" pads together to get the proper impedance to match your mixers output.
4 or 8 Ohms.

Don't be afraid to do it, but just do it right and nobody gets hurt!
