Do you know if a FOSTEX dealer or repair facility could change out the hard drive in my DMT-8?

I have a 6.4GB IDE that I could use. I suppose the software version would need to be updated in order to use a drive that big.

BTW, thanks Jon X and drstawl for your response on my previous question.

I think that you can? I know someone that is doing just that. I guess it took like 8+ hrs to format the drive though?

hmmmmm

Yeah, you can change it out, no problem..
I have that Fostex, if you need a manual, let me know, it shows how to do it.

If you already have a hard drive in the FD-8 it is just a matter of doing a little bit of unscrewing. At least that is what Fostex told me. As for the long format time--yeah, you'll be waiting for a while to format. The FDMS-3 format that Fostex uses takes about 45 minutes a gigabyte. For all good things we must suffer even a little.

Peace, Jim
