Hey guys, I'm new to this forum....I normally am hanging out on a car forum I'm a member of.....anyway, to my question......

First I want to appologize for how this question my sound as if its comming from a "newbie" but I have tried to search with no luck on the boards......

I had at one time a version of Calkwalk on an old computer I had. Everything went great, I was able to write playback, etc.....Then got rid of the computer, and got calkwalk music creator 2002.....When I open CWMC 2002 I always get an error messge that says "One or more sound cards do not support stero. The default audio format has been set to mono."

I'm using a Sound blaster 5.1 card.....so I'm not sure why I'm gettting this error

Also I am able to pull the old version of Calkwalk that I had, because I put it on a floppy, I think if I remember correctly....and I'm able to play things as normal......

I'm sorry for the long post, but this is definately frustrating, I would appreciate any help that you guys could be thanks......

Use MME-drivers. Go to Options -> Audio -> Advanced and check the "Always use MME-drivers, even when WDM drivers are present"- checkbox. :)

...or just roll back to the drivers that came with Windows (assuming you're using 2000 or XP). Creative's WDM drivers were not written well and aren't compatible with Cakewalk software.

Thanks for the reply's guys!!!! I really appreciate it. That worked, I'm no longer getting the message, however....I'm able to play the pre made music from the program, but when I write, it won't play what I wrote, any ideas why this is happening??? sorry to be such a PITA guys, but thatnks for any help that you could give.....

Are you playing MIDI? Have you set up the channels on the tracks right?

A little more information would help. :)

Yes, -instead of sorry for long post- you better write detailed info about the simptom...

BTW, as you rolled back the driver, you need to run "Wave Profiler" again to obtain best performance of Cakewalk and soundcard's driver. It can be found somewhere in Options --> Audio. Because if you install (or roll back) driver, then Cakewalk will see your soundcard as "new" device. And you may need to adjust several things again (eg. the driver mode -either WDM or MME-, audio input output routing, MIDI ports, etc.)...

Hope it helps
