I'm pretty sure 9.03 was the last version of Cakewalk PA before Sonar 1.0 was released.

The long line...

So far as I know...

Cakewalk 1 for DOS
Cakewalk 2 for Windows 3.1
Cakewalk 3
Cakewalk 4
Cakewalk 5
Cakewalk 6 --> 6.1 --> 6.2
Cakewalk 7
Cakewalk 8
Cakewalk 9 --> 9.01 --> 9.02 --> 9.03
SONAR 1.1 --> 1.2 --> 1.3
SONAR 2
SONAR 2 XL --> 2.1 XL --> 2.2 XL

(Correct me if I'm wrong fella... ;))

Cakewalk 1, 2 and 3 work for MIDI only. Cakewalk goes audio since vers. 4. Even though it's not that good as other competitor on it's time, but it works. I bought Cakewalk since version 1, 3, 6 to 6.2 (update), jump to 9 to 9.03 (update), and SONAR 2 XL to 2.2 XL (update). Twelve Tone System (Cakewalk creator) had changed the name "Cakewalk 10" to SONAR. So, after 9.03, it goes SONAR...

Hope it helps.

"Cakewalk" 1, 2 and 3 was called "Cakewalk Professional 1,2 and 3" with 4 came the "Pro Audio" name, I think... ;)

...A lot !! here's general comparison chart from my archive (it used to be in Cakewalk site, but it's gone by now..) ;)

In the chart, "X" means supported...

...FYI, SONAR also has many great features not provided by it's predecessor, ie. Integrated DXi instruments & softsynth support, Real Time MIDI effect processing, support for new decent hardwares, support ASIO (with update vers. 2.2 XL), it also works with WDM driver, etc... etc... CWPA 9 was reported designed to run under Windows 98, but SONAR designed for Windows ME, or Win XP... But I never heard any problems regarding that... :cool: I'm sure moskus, and other ACKUS here will add more info... :cool: Your turn guys... ;)

Teacher (one of our great hero in this forum :cool: ) also reported SONAR support dual processor while pro audio didn't. He has dual proc system and SONAR uses this advantage for him good.

;)

It's too bad that they they don't keep those "patches" rolling out, for thier old "legacy" programs. :(

Of course they don't keep them available! They want you to upgrade to Sonar, of course! :cool:

...They told me to keep it, and share this to this BBS member...;)

I'm running Sonar 2 version 2.2 which is not on the list. Just thought I would point that out.
