Is N-Track easier to use than CakeWalk? What are the pros and cons? Anybody?

Thanks

I haven't messed with Cake in ages, so take this with lots of salt. Side by side, N was much more intuitive for me. What took me a day to learn in N I never did figure out in Cake.

But that was a loooooong time ago; much older versions of both. Not sure what Cake looks like these days.

I will say, tho', that N has limited MIDI capabilities. If you're planning to do MIDI, you may want to look elsewhere. Then again, there's a new version of N due out soon. Hard to say what Flavio has in store. It's pretty amazing how quickly he puts out updates and fixes.

If no one here has worked with both and can give you a fair side-by-side comparison, you may want to visit the N-Track Forum and ask the nice folks there.

I used to use Cakewalk pro audio 8 (or 7, Im not sure) . It seems to me that N-track does everything Cakewalk does and for a much cheaper price. It even has more things, like you can use vst effects (which I like better than directx effects cause their easier to "install") Exporting to a mp3 and some other formats. You can also have similanious tracks coming in at once (multi input soundcards. I think n-tracks easier to use, even though I had a little trouble ajusting to n-track because differences in shortcuts etc. The manual for n-track is very good and explains things in a way that you can start working right away. I suggest that you get n-track. It may not have as big a name as Sonar, but because its easiness, low price tag, and features that you ussually only get in "pro" versions of software. Thats my opinion, but you should probably ask people who like Cakewalk too, since my opinion will be biased since this is the n-track forum.
