Dear cakewalk users,
This is my first post here and am glad to have found this forum.I have been using cakewalk for 6 years now and have enjoyed the versatility with it.I have just expanded or upgraded my computer system from pc to mac.I have a G4 and am running pro tools LE 2.1.6.What I would like to know is can I and how do I use my cakewalk projects from pc on my mac with pro tools.Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks,

Sonar 2... Install patch upgrade to at least 2.1 (or 2.2 is even preferable for ASIO support!), then Sonar will be able to export an audio track as .omf file. The only downside issue (if you want to mix in PT) is you must export each audio track one by one. Select the track, File-->Export-->Audio. Save as OMF. There you go... you can import/rearange each file into PT.

Thanks Argo,
How about midi tracks?should I just record the midi patterns into audio and the use the audio procedure?

Thanks

Basicaly, it deppends on your MIDI. I mean, if you use DXi as your MIDI sound source, then yes, you need to "print" audio out of your MIDI track (select both MIDI track & Audio DXi track, Edit-->Bounce to track)*. Same procedure if you use MIDI plugins (eg. Slicy Drumer). You too need to print the plugin to track first (Click MIDI track w/ plugin, Edit-->Apply MIDI effect). You're gonna see the MIDI track now contains MIDI clip. Bounce the result MIDI track and Audio DXi track to new audio clip (as first step above*). From that point, you can export the track as OMF individualy.

If you use external MIDI source (synth, sampler, keyboard, etc), then you have an option to save the MIDI part as MIDI file, and PT will import them.
I'd prefer export/import audio though :)
