Getting better
Hey ladies and gentlemen, this is my first-ever post. Thanks for listening to this newest-of-newbie's question.

I have something called Calkwalk "Professional" - NOT Cakewalk Pro Audio. As best I gather it, Professional is what Home Studio became - a scaled-down version of PA. Anyway, I cannot for the life of me figure out how to input MIDI. I have a MIDI keyboard - a real cheap Yamaha - and I have it set to send MIDI messages. Likewise, I click in the track in Calkwalk and call for a Midi source.

What I want to do is use the actual sounds from my Soundblaster soundcard, but control them from my keyboard. Yet I cannot get any of my playing to make a sound in Calkwalk.

FYI, I can record audio from my keyboard just fine.

I have listened to Calkwalk's sample songs included with the software - and they play okay. In fact, I was a bit surprised at the quality of the sound of some instruments (coming, I am assuming, from my Soundblaster's synthesizer). But I can't get my keyboard to play MIDI. Help!

If you want the card to be your master, you might very well have to record midi lines with your keyboard - then change output properties.

Fab, It's gonna work, dont fret!

I have CWPA9, dont know about yours, so I am going
to assume they are similiar .

Do you have a joystick midi cable? ( I, of course,
will assume you have a midi cable!!). connect the
out from the keyboard to the joystick.

In cakewalk, go to options, then midi Setup.
There will be two sides, one for input and one for
output. You should select Soundblaster in and out,
and deselect anything else like midi mapper,
Roland, etc. That should work. Cheers , David
