Cad M9 or MXL V76, AT4040 or ADK Hamburg for vocals?

I'm recording this compilation for this campus event. The range of music goes from rock,alternative,r&b, and hip hop. There will also be some poetry included. I usually use my GT55, Cad M37, AT4033, and sometimes MXL v67 for vocals. I'm looking for something with a different flavor. I thinking a purchasing a cheap tube mic and another solid state mic to give me something different. The mics I'm looking at is the MXL v76(or v69) vs. the Cad M9. In solid state I''m looking at the AT4040 or ADK Hamburg(or Vienna). All these mics are in about the same price range except the v76, but I was wondering if they are in the same quality class.

I haven't used the m37, v76 or the Vienna, but I've used or been around others using the rest. I really like the Hamburg and M9, but they are different animals. The Hamburg can be a bit scooped - which is good or bad, depending. The M9 has some presence to it, but it's also got a warm low-mid response to it. The 4040 might be a bit similar to the 4033 - I find a lot of the 40 series AT mics to all share something similar...clean and open response (although the 4033 can be boxy on SOME vocalists, but I always liked it on my voice). I know a lot of people are impressed with the MXL tube, but I can't say I was too high on the v69 I heard.

Yes this was helpful. The AT4033 is a strange mic to me. It works on some people, but when you use it for alot of vocal tracks it gives a weird build up. I've never tried a Hamburg,but if its scooped then maybe I'll look at the Vienna. I really didn't like the V69 that much, but I've yet to try a v76. In my experience most Cad mics (excluding the gxl series) have similar character, but a slightly different tone. I haven't tried the M9, but I love the VSM. I'm hoping the M9 sounds like the m37(m177 or m179) on steroids.
