There's a similar thing in Mexico, when you enter Mexico by ground you can carry up to USD $300 with you in goods, and I have the idea that there's a similar sum when you get things by mail, but I can't remember it right now. All I remember is that when I bought my (used) Portastudio about 4 years ago, it costed me about USD$150 and I had to pay about $75 in taxes (about 35% import tax and 15% I.V.A.).
Update:
a friend, whose father is a aduana, just let me know that now import duties for european and US products generally are 15% IVA + 5% tax. not shure about chinese microphoenes though. BTW I saw the shure ksm27 in one of the stores here for only 360 USD, thats quite a deal!
I asked some guy in the company I work in and he told me that if the mic costs about $300 USD the final cost would be probably between $350-375 including shipping AND taxes
Well, I can't do that, and the reason is this...Any fraudulent paperwork would subject me to huge fines, and jail...so all bets are off. I have to place full value on them.
I do have good news. I just signed up Fabre Audio as our distributor in Mexico. He is our Joemeek Distributor there, and has just agreed to take on the line. He gave me an order and it is ready to ship.
