...them damn Canadians can be rough on a mic.....and he's still in that "honeymoon' stage so he may mistake it for a sex toy....and once you get that stinky pinky smell on a mic, thats it...gasoline won't even wash it off....
bwa-ha-ha!!!!!!!!! :D :D

Gidge.... you're killing me!!! That was pretty funny........ :D :D

Even if the C1 sounded identical to the v67 I would have bought the
C1 for a number of reasons. The Studio Projects mikes seem as though
they are a more consistant product line than the Marshall.
Also, in the (unlikely) event something goes wrong, I think Alan's
customer service is reliable (less hassle). In addition, rather than
looking at Alan's input as a conflict of interest, it's really an opportunity
for us to speak direct with someone with a cutting edge product on how
to use it effectively (translated-we can ask lots of questions!).

Gidge, count me among the "2 or 3" who respect your opinion!

Bruce,

No problem...I would have put you in touch with my distributor in Ontario. I'm too cheap to send them all the way up there!!! :D

Gidge,

This is not totally direct at you, but it will answer one of your comments. There really are quite a few stand up guys who write for the magazines. Unfortunately, they get over shadowed by the few out there who do tend to give good reviews on rubber band reverbs and such, but these reviewers may also just be reporting what they hear. Its not like they have to pass a test to write, so perhaps they like what they review and offer nothing more than their opinions...good, or bad.

I think we should look at these reviews from an informational basis first, and trust the ones done by those reputable people that are out there, including the magazines.

As for Fletcher testing the mics, I already tried. I really like the guy despite our east coast run ins, but I understand his position. He is a Brauner dealer, and claims my mics look too much like the Brauner. Well that may be, but then again the Brauner looks like the Telefunken, which looks like the AKG and so on, so where do you go from there.

So for the AES Show in New York, I plan to put up a Brauner on my demo rack right next to the C1 to try and get his attention. It should be an interesting listening test. I'll have the Neumann there as well.

Alan....

I contacted Mark Eberhardt at Power Music in Mississauga via email... I'm not sure I understood his answer - he gave me the impression that a dealer network is only just starting to be setup in Canada, so are they actually for sale here yet???

Bruce

Henrick, since you're in Sweden anyway, be sure to get some of the
gorgeous women there to try them out-we'll wait anxiously for your
"review"!

Bruce,

Mark should know who the dealers are. They have been set up. I know Long & McQuade are dealers, and when I went to the MIAC Show a few months back, there were several dealers signing up right there, so I don't understand Mark's answer.

If you want more clarification, ask for Ron Larcombe, the owner at extension #24. I know there are several dealers already established, and Power can sell them as well.

Henrick,

Midwest Audio, our distributor has an office in Stockholm with a very big studio for testing. If you want, you can call them and try to make arrangements with them. The number is +46 30 32 30 825, but you dont have to dial the +46. :D

OK Alan... thanks for the info - there is a Long & McQuade in Ottawa... I know they aren't carrying any in stock ('cos they don't have them out on their shelves), but I'll look into it.

Bruce

After reading the posts regarding the C1 and some other research, I purchased the C1. For what I paid, I feel that the quality to price ratio was pretty dang good.

I used it on vocals and on acoustic guitar. Very pleased with the results. Some may say that I'm a bit too easy to please in this area. But thats who I'm trying to please anyway, me.

Hush George.

George,

That's what its all about...pleasing yourself! :D Glad you like the mic.

Bruce,

I think Long & McQuade got it taken care of. It is in the system now, its just a few of the salespeople are not yet hip to it. Power just ordered and we shipped some big C1 quantities yesterday, so L&M are getting a bunch of them. I hope you can get it straight with them.

I'm surprised though, that L & MQ would distribute the SP mics. What about the Apex mics? L & MQ is owned by Yorkville afterall.

Should be an interesting outcome.

Emeric,

Long & McQuade do bring in the Apex mics, but again, that is an off the shelf mic out of China. The Studio Projects is a much better mic, and I think they, L&M are getting drift of that.

I expect them to push the Apex, but the customers will ask for the Studio Projects, and L&M need another good mic to support as I believe they do not sell the Marshall Mics.

They can do a real good job for us if they get behind it, and from what our distributor tells us is that many of the salespeople are really into the SP Mics, so that will help.
